Kinesiology Balance for Stress and Anxiety.

Stress and Anxiety or a Hormonal imbalance that causes inflammation and digestive issues.. food for thought!

Most people have no idea what stress can do to your body or that women are 8x more likely to develop a thyroid disorder because of how they react to or ‘perceive’ stressors. So it is no surprise that stress, in all its forms (Chemical, Mental, Physical and Energetical) actually plays a vital roll in most dis-ease.

  •  Heart Disease
  • Asthma
  • Obesity
  • Headaches
  • Gastrointestinal problems (Fight or Flight/ Rest  and Digest)
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Accelerated aging
  • Weakness and aches in muscles and joints

The list goes on…

I really had no idea how stressed my body really was and am currently changing my whole way of being in the quest for the happy life I know I can achieve if I push through all my limits and Misguided belief systems.

When you are stressed your body releases cortisol to help your Sympathetic Nervous System in its fight or flight mode. This is the body’s amazing way of keeping you safe. To stay healthy you want to be in a predominantly parasympathetic state, rest and digest. I have recently discovered a guy called Wim Hof who believes he can control his Nervous System and therefore his Health and Happiness through controlled breathing and extreme cold! Definitely worth a look!

There are a few muscles linked to your Thyroid and Adrenals, which are the two things that need to be in balance if you want to combat stress and anxiety.

Everyday stresses wear down the Adrenal glands ability to respond to further stress.

IT SCARES ME TO KNOW THAT WE ARE UNDER STRESSORS THAT AS A  SPECIES, WE HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERD BEFORE AND THEREFOR CANNOT NATURALLY FIGHT.

A few of the muscles I would start to look at would be:

Teres Minor – Triple Warmer Meridian (Energy flow) Linked to Thyroid gland and    Endocrine system (A system of ductless glands which control out metabolism and reaction to stress)

Type of problems related to weakness of this muscle:

  • Wrist, elbow and shoulder problems
  • Hormonal issues
  • Fatigue
  • Weight loss/ gain
  • Stress and Anxiety

Emotion that may be related to weakness (Interestingly all the below muscles relate to the same Emotions)

  • Feeling un safe unable to express yourself
  • wanting to run away from using your voice

The Throat Chakra is related to the Thyroid and balancing this can help with communication skills and self expression.

Organic sources of Iodine help strengthen this circuit

Sartorius – Triple Warmer Meridian (Energy flow) Linked to Adrenals.

Type of problems related to weakness of this muscle:

  • Knee and hip problems
  • Allergies
  • Long term tiredness
  • Prone to infections
  • Stress and Anxiety

Emotion that may be related to weakness:

  • Feeling un safe unable to express yourself
  • wanting to run away from using your voice

This circuit often needs high amount of Vit C, B3, B5 and Adrenal substance to restore natural balance.

Gastrocemius – Triple Warmer Meridian (Energy flow) Linked to Adrenals.

Types of problems related to weakness of this muscle:

  • Can effect your Knees
  • Walking on tip toes from a young age
  • Stress and Anxiety

Soleus – Triple Warmer Meridian (Energy flow) Linked to your Adrenals.

Types of problems related to weakness of this muscle:

  • Can be weakened by shock/ trauma
  • Unable or difficulty standing on tiptoe

Emotion that may be related to weakness:

There are lots of other muscles and techniques we could look at if non of these were relevant, I just wanted to give you an idea of just how complex our Bodies are, It makes sense that many aspects need to be considered to keep balance. I don’t know if they will ever uncover all the magic that happens inside us (They are still discovering new Hormones after all!) but I know that we definitely have enough information to tap into that magic and start working with it to heal.
